The Chicago Blackhawks are hot, but some injury news will make for interesting hockey at home over the rest of November.
The Chicago Blackhawks kept their winning ways rolling on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. A marquee, Original 6 victory has the Blackhawks in a Wild Card position within the Western Conference playoff picture.
Most importantly, the Blackhawks saw Andre Burakovsky and Frank Nazar return to the lineup. Both players have brought a spark of offense all season for Chicago, and that was no different on Saturday. Nazar’s assist on Teuvo Teravainan’s goal tied it up at two apiece, and the Hawks ultimately found a way to sink the Maple Leafs.
Despite an overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday, the Blackhawks are riding a five-game point streak following the win.

The Blackhawks have a unique opportunity as a part of their upcoming stretch. Following the first two games on this extended home stand, the Blackhawks will play six of their next seven games at the United Center in November. In fact, the Blackhawks are not on the road, aside from their quick trip to Buffalo on Nov. 21, until Dec. 2 when they venture west for a four-game stint with the Vegas Golden Knights, Los Angeles Kings (who they play twice), and Anaheim Ducks.
Closing Time – News Recap
Despite the win on Saturday, not all news out of the Blackhawks organization is positive right now. According to head coach Jeff Blashill, captain Nick Foligno will be sidelined for approximately four weeks. Although Foligno’s scoring prowess is past him, not having him on the bench night in and night out will be a big loss. Regardless, it appears the team will replace Foligno with Sam Lafferty and keep the same construct within the lineup.
In addition, prospect Nick Lardis is considered day-to-day after missing Sunday’s loss against the Texas Stars. The injury is considered upper body, and with the Rockford IceHogs back in action on Wednesday, Lardis’ presence will be worth monitoring when the lineup is released.
