Johnny Beecher’s time with the Boston Bruins is over.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Beecher has been claimed off waivers by the Calgary Flames.
Seeing Beecher get claimed off waivers is not too surprising. It seemed likely that a team out there would take a chance on the 2019 first-round pick, and the Flames are now doing just that.
Beecher played in six games this season for the Bruins, where he posted one goal and a minus-1 rating. In 136 games over three seasons with the Black and Gold, the 6-foot-3 forward recorded 11 goals, 11 assists, 22 points, 109 blocks, 204 hits, and a minus-16 rating.
Losing a former first-round pick through waivers is never the best feeling, but Beecher had become the odd man out on Boston’s roster. The 6-foot-3 forward will now look to make an impact after getting this fresh start with the Flames from here.
