Game Preview

This is a helluva test for the Kraken, because the Red Wings are genuinely pretty good. Led by the dynamite work of Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Larkin, and Lucas Raymond, the Wings have finally risen from the dead and are now in a dead heat for the 1st in the Atlantic Division title.

Sure, that doesn’t mean a whole lot when most of the Atlantic is Quite Bad, but still! Its competitive!

It’ll be a real test when it comes to pace of play as well, because the Wings are genuinely quite good at controlling the puck this year. They get a LOT of shots and especially unblocked shots off thanks to all that speed theyve gathered, and are demons on

Just oooooone problem: their goaltending has had a lot of trouble with how much quality ice they’re leaving open in the middle of the defensive zone.

While the Wings offense at 5v5 is pretty solid, the defense has made the middle of the ice a major point of pain for Detroit. If the Kraken’s transition game is at its best, there’s reason to believe they will have golden opportunities to get up on them. It’ll also behoove the Kraken to lock down their net-front: they get a lot of great chances from in tight, and their best can do a lot with so little space

The Kraken will have a lot to handle, so they need to put their best foot forward in order to handle these resurgent…ish Red Wings. I think they can do it, personally.
