The Boston Bruins have announced that they have recalled defenseman Michael Callahan from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

It is understandable that the Bruins have called up a defenseman, as they are preparing for a four-game road trip that includes three games in California. With this and Charlie McAvoy being sidelined, it makes a lot of sense that the Bruins are having Callahan travel with the team to give them another defenseman to work with.

Callahan has appeared in three games this season for Boston, where he has posted zero points, three hits, six blocks, and a minus-2 rating. This is after he recorded one goal, eight hits, 12 blocks, and a minus-5 rating in 17 games for Boston this past season.

Callahan has spent the majority of this season down in the AHL with Providence, however, recording two assists and a plus-6 rating in 12 games. During this past season with Providence, he posted one goal, eight assists, nine points, 30 penalty minutes, and a plus-3 rating. Callahan was also named to the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic with Providence teammate Michael DiPietro due to his strong play last season.

Callahan will now be looking to impress if he gets into the Bruins’ lineup during their road trip.
