The New York Rangers dropped a second consecutive game and third in the last five outings on Tuesday night, falling 3–2 to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas rookie forward Braeden Bowman opened the scoring on a power play in the first period, and Vegas added another man-advantage goal from Shea Theodore in the third.

Team captain J.T. Miller, who has scored one goal in nine games this month, extended his goal-scoring drought to three games on Tuesday.

Miller addressed his lack of production through the first quarter of the season following his one-assist outing against the Golden Knights.

“At some point you look in the mirror,” Miller said. “Speaking on behalf of myself, I certainly expect a hell of a lot more production than what I have.”

Miller picked up his secondary assist during the team’s late push with the extra attacker, but the 32-year-old has just 10 points through 21 games. His 1.4 points-per-60-minutes average is the worst since his rookie season back in 2013.

“I’ve never really gauged my game on points,” Miller said. “Typically, when I bring my game, the points come. That being said, this year, it seems like nothing’s really going in the net.”

Miller also referenced the team’s recurring pattern of narrow defeats and his lack of production as a combination hurting the Rangers this season.

“We’ve got a big enough sample size — 25 percent of the season is gone — and we’re in a lot of one-goal games,” Miller said. “If I can raise my personal standard and lead the team a little bit better production-wise, I think our outcome in these games are going to change.”
