With the number of injuries accumulated by the Vancouver Canucks, trade talks get more and more serious, while it’s been a rumour for several weeks now that Steven Stamkos is on his way out of Nashville with the Predators, the trade talks keep getting more serious.

“The NHL Rumour Report on X has posted that the rumours are well and true that Stamkos is on his way out of Nashville and Vancouver and Montreal were specifically named, because they’re the frontrunners to land him.”-Stinson

When will Nashville let go of Stamkos?

“This is not to say anything is imminent. Stamkos has been playing more left wing, and he’s left-handed. He’s got two years left at $8 million per. Predators center Ryan O’Reilly may be a better fit for the Canadiens. He carries a $4.5 million cap hit. The cost to acquire O’Reilly will be high, with Alex Daugherty suggesting it could cost a first and a talented prospect.”-Dumont

The Canadiens like the Canucks have recently caught the injury bug. After starting out their season to an electric start, the momentum is starting to die and the losses increasing. They will need to make a trade to continue their momentum.

“I look at the Montreal Canadiens. They’ve been ravaged of late by long-term injuries. The Canadiens are one of those teams that is scouring the league, they are looking for the right fit up front.”-Darren Dreger TSN

It will be interesting to see how both these teams navigate their the trade talks and manage their injuries. And it will show who’s head office is better at getting things done.
