Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros found a unique way to honor and remember people with ties to the organization who have been affected by cancer.
During Hockey Fights Cancer Night for the Predators‘ matchup with the Colorado Avalanche at Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 22 (7 p.m. CT, FanDuel Sports Network), Saros will wear a custom goalie mask with the depictions of Erin Daunic, Craig Baugh, Lexi Rogers and Sheila Crisp.
Saros said he wanted to honor those four because of their ties to the organization, but also because they represent a larger community of people who have fought cancer.

“It’s unfortunate that so many people have had to go through that battle,” Saros said after practice Nov. 19 at Centennial Sportsplex. “And we unfortunately lost Erin Daunic to that battle this summer, which was very sad news. For those people, I asked if I could honor them. I thought this would be a good way to do that.”
Erin Daunic, the wife of Predators broadcaster Willy Daunic, died at age 54 on July 22 after a year-long battle. She was a development director at STARS Nashville, a program that serves children and teens dealing with trauma, violence, substance abuse, bullying and depression, among other challenges. Her warm personality endeared her to many in the community, especially in the Predators organization.
Craig Baugh has been the Predators’ locker room attendant since the team arrived in 1998. His booming personality and unending friendliness has earned him league-wide respect among NHL coaches and players for the past 27 years. In 2022, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Through a connection with Vanderbilt football coach Clark Lea, Baugh had surgery to get the tumor removed and is now in recovery.
Lexi Rogers is the daughter of Predators equipment manager Pete Rogers. She was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2024, but is now cancer-free and in recovery.
Sheila Crisp is the wife of Predators broadcaster Terry Crisp. She has been battling cancer since 2022.
The mask was designed by David Gunnarsson, a freelance designer who has worked with many of the NHL’s top goaltenders.
Hockey Fights Cancer is an initiative created by the NHL and NHLPA to bring together the hockey community to support cancer patients and research. The Predators have aligned the movement with their 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund, which was originally started by goaltender Pekka Rinne and former captain Shea Weber in 2013.
