Amadeus Lombardi scored another highlight reel goal, extending his points streak to eight games.  Michael Brandsegg-Nygard posted an assist, plus six shots on goal. John Leonard showed a goal and two assists. Eduards Tralmaks scored his sixth goal in 12 games.

It all adds up to a Grand Rapids Griffins’ 5-1 Wednesday win against the Rockford IceHogs to extend the Griffins’ team record, season-launching point streak to 12 consecutive games. They own 11 wins, and a shootout loss, to start the season. Sebastian Cossa made 24 saves in his first start since returning from injury.

From the Red Wings’ perspective what this means is they have options in Grand Rapids if they have injuries in Detroit.

Leonard’s offense extended his season starting points streak to 10 games. That breaks Riley Barber’s team record.

Beings in first place in the Atlantic Division still means you are fighting for a playoff spot. The distance from the top to the bottom isn’t much.

The buzz in Sweden is that Detroit defenseman Simon Edvinsson is getting serious consideration to play for the Olympic team.
