It appears Samuel Honzek’s rookie season with the Calgary Flames has come to an end.

Honzek underwent surgery on his upper-body injury Thursday and is expected to miss six months, according to multiple reports.

The update comes after Honzek was previously ruled week-to-week by the Flames over the weekend.

The 21-year-old winger was injured in a collision with teammate Mikael Backlund last weekend.

Honzek has two goals and four points in 18 games this season while averaging 12:21 per game.

The injury, which rules out Honzek into May, also takes him out of consideration for Slovakia’s Olympic team.

Selected 16th overall in the 2023 draft, Honzek went without a point in five games with the Flames last season. He posted eight goals and 21 points in 52 games with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers.
