The incident happened early in the third period as Rantanen got tangled up with Senators’ Linus Ullmark and appeared to drag the goalie down as they both fell to the ice.
No penalties were dished out on the play and the Stars would go on to win the game 3-2 in overtime.
This was Rantanen’s second embellishment infraction and first fine. He was issued a warning by the league following a game against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 16.
His next infraction will carry a $3,000 fine.
