Dylan Strome met his third daughter, Sutton Kimberley Strome, on Friday after the Washington Capitals flew home from Montreal.

Strome, who was heartbroken to have missed the special moment, tearfully announced the birth of his daughter after the Capitals’ 8-4 win on Thursday night. Tayler went into labor prematurely right before puck drop against the Habs, so the 28-year-old centerman did not have enough time to travel back home.

“(We) didn’t know it was coming this soon, but can’t wait to go see her,” Strome said after the game. “So Sutton Kimberley Strome, my third daughter, was born at 7:30 pm today. It was really quick. She felt it two hours before, and it just happened. There was nothing I could do to get there. So super proud of her, and just definitely playing with a lot of emotions. I found out after the first period tonight. I heard before the game and talked about what I should do. I mean, there was nothing I could do to get back.”

Strome’s wife, Tayler, replied to his tearful press conference by sharing an encouraging message on Instagram Story, “<3 the best dad. we love you so much. baby girl didn’t check the game schedule before deciding to join us.”

Once the family of five reunited at the hospital on Friday, Tayler posted several photos of the experience on Instagram.

“Sutton Kimberley Strome, we love you so much already 🤍,” she wrote in the caption.

Strome posted a family photo of his own with his wife and two daughters, four-year-old Weslie and two-year-old Emerson.

“Girl dad x3,” he wrote in the caption. “This one a tad different than the rest. Mom even more of a rockstar, Dad even more tears. Sutton Kimberley Strome🩷 7lbs 10oz”

Dylan and Tayler have been married since 2022. They announced news of their latest pregnancy in May.
