ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man pleaded guilty on Friday morning in the crash that caused St. Louis Police Officer Nathan Spiess to lose part of his leg.
Frank Carr was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and one count of tampering with evidence. He pleaded guilty to the charges on Friday.
Police said Carr was the driver of the car that hit Spiess on March 17 on the shoulder of Interstate 70. At the time of the incident, Spiess was in the process of arresting a juvenile carjacking suspect.
A second suspect, Mekhi R. Campbell is charged in connection with the incident after being accused of driving the car that led police on the chase that went onto Interstate 70. He is charged with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, aggravated fleeing and resisting arrest.
