The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly have reportedly made a former first round pick available on the trade market a little less than one month after acquiring him.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has been looking for ways to upgrade his roster since the summer and one of his main priorities was to land a second line centerman to play behind Elias Pettersson. The Canucks had their sights set on landed someone through the trade market and made an made an aggressive offer to land Marco Rossi from the Minnesota Wild, which reportedly included their 2025 first round pick, but it was rejected by General Manager Bill Guerin.

Vancouver was excited for what Lukas Reichel could bring to their group and after making a handful of appearances in that second line center role, he saw his role reduced and his ice time dropped.Ahead of Thursday’s game against the Dallas Stars, Lukas Reichel was made a healthy scratch by Head Coach Adam Foote and it appears that his time with the Vancouver Canucks organization may already be coming to a close.
“Lukas Reichel was a healthy scratch last night. One point in 13 games, no shots on goal in the last six. With Höglander and Blueger not far away, a Lekkerimäki call-up not far away, Reichel is now available. I heard last night that you can get Reichel out of Vancouver. I think they’re okay with trying to move him is what I was told last night.” Dhaliwal said.
Reichel, a native of Nuremberg, Germany, has one assist, four penalty minutes and is a minus-four in 13 games during his time with the Vancouver Canucks.
Patrik Allvin gave up a fourth round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft, which they had three of at the time, but given how poorly the 23-year-old has played, it seems pretty unlikely that the Canucks will be able to get an asset of similar value in return, which will lead to more frustration among the fanbase.
