The Moorhead Spuds and Edina Hornets faced off to begin the Turkey Trot Tournament and it was a rematch of a 2025 Class AA state semi-final. KSTP Sports was there in Plymouth on Friday night.
Both teams are ranked in the top-5 of the Let’s Play Hockey preseason rankings.
Moorhead’s Michael Herman got the scoring started, followed by a Brandon Mickelson goal, before Herman scored again to make it a 3-0 Spuds lead.
Edina made some noise in the second period, scoring two straight from Tucker Johnson, and another from Nash Paine to tie it 3-3.
Moorhead surged in the third period, starting with a Tyden Bergeson goal. Max and Joey Cullen followed that with two goals of their own to secure the win, 6-3.

Edina next plays Maple Grove, and Moorhead takes on Wayzata, both Saturday to finish the Turkey Trot.
