The Detroit Red Wings could add two Predators forwards, as the team looks to retool their lineup; will it be in preparation for a playoff run?

The Nashville Predators are undergoing a retool under GM Barry Trotz.

With a record of 6-10-4, the team has a young core to build from, but they will need to move on from their veterans.

With news of a shakeup, the team could seek to move its veteran core in order to get assets and acquire the ultimate value: cap space.

The Red Wings, who are vying for a spot in the playoffs, could benefit from an acquisition of a veteran or two from the Predators, who want to get younger.

The Original Six team could seek to reunite general manager Steve Yzerman and one of the players from his past, Steven Stamkos.

Stamkos could offer viable postseason leadership and secondary scoring, where players like JT Compher have missed the mark.

And knowing that Stamkos has an NMC (no-movement clause) means another dimension of complexity has been added into the mix.

He’d have to waive it in order to be sent to Detroit.

Haula could be another option, has a six-team no-trade clause, and could be an affordable rental, and he could be traded or let walk in July should the relationship not work out.

“The 34-year-old Finnish center has seen his play decline in recent years but this season, he is hitting another level with ten points through 20 games while playing second line minutes.”

The $3.15 million forward has played 20 games for the Predators this season and has been in a second-line role with the team.

Haula might be cheaper, but a reunion with Stamkos could be a huge coup for Detroit, reuniting him with Yzerman.
