The launch of sports betting in a new state is always an exciting time for not only sports fans, but also sportsbook operators. Missouri sports betting launches on December 1, and DraftKings Missouri will begin taking bets in the Show-Me State on that date.

Following the lead of other states with legal betting, the ceremonial first bet in Missouri will be star-studded event with former pro athletes on hand.

DraftKings Missouri announced it will host a ceremonial first-bet event at The Palladium in St. Louis featuring three Hall of Famers: Former Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Tony Gonzalez, former St. Louis Rams’ wide receiver Isaac Bruce and former St. Louis Blues’ forward Brett Hull.

The event will include ceremonial first bets from the three legends as well as remarks from Missouri House Speaker Jonathan Patterson. DraftKings Missouri also announced it is giving $50,000 to the Veterans Community Project, which works to end Veteran homelessness in Missouri.

DraftKings Missouri partners with the St. Louis Blues

DraftKings recently struck a partnership with the Blues, despite the fact it was awarded an “untethered” sports betting license (a partnership isn’t required with this type of license).

Per the agreement, DraftKings will gain access to the intellectual property of the Blues, such as their logo and trademarks. The collaboration will feature in-arena signage as well as exposure on television and radio broadcasts. Prior to partnering with the Blues, DraftKings has been a partner of the Kansas City Chiefs since 2022.

“DraftKings is built for passionate sports fans, making Missouri an exciting jurisdiction for us to enter with its rich sports culture, and several professional teams across the state,” said DraftKings’ Chief Revenue Officer Greg Karamitis.

“This is an incredible time of year for sports fans with NFL, NBA, NHL, college football, and college basketball all in-season, and we look forward to elevating the experience for Missouri sports fans, responsibly, with our top-rated online sportsbook.”

DraftKings instrumental in legalization of MO sports betting

Missouri will become the 29th state in which DraftKings offers legal sports betting. That number doesn’t include Puerto Rico, Washington D.C. and Ontario, Canada.

DraftKings, along with FanDuel, were the primary financial backers of the “Winning for Missouri Education” campaign which led to the legalization of Missouri sports betting through a November 2024 constitutional amendment. DraftKings contributed over $15 million to the successful campaign.

As a result, DraftKings was awarded an “untethered” license to operate in the state of Missouri. This simply means they could operate in the state without partnering with a local professional sports team or land-based casino.

Beginning on December 1, eligible Missouri residents will gain access to DraftKings’ wide range of betting options as well as a comprehensive suite of responsible gaming tools and resources.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the early-sign up offer, which allows new users to get $300 in bonus bets after they bet $5 on Dec. 1. No DraftKings promo code is required.

Missouri sportsbooks set to launch 12/1

DraftKings Missouri isn’t the only sportsbook set to launch on Dec. 1. Currently, nine sportsbooks are expected to take bets on that date, with at least five of them currently offering early-sign up bonuses.
