Plus: Whatever adjustments the Washington Capitals made to their special teams between Saturday’s game against Tampa and tonight seemed to work, because both the power play and penalty kill looked much more lively. They held the Columbus Blue Jackets’ power play off the board and, even more importantly, they scored a power play goal!
Minus: Logan Thompson was well on his way to an impressive shutout performance, but the Blue Jackets ended up breaking through on a bit of a rough one.
Caps Player of the Game: Jakob Chychrun have yourself a night! His two goals, including one on the power play, extended his goal streak to three games (3G) and his point streak to eight games (4G, 6A). With his two goals tonight, he is now second in the NHL in goals from defenseman with eight tallies, trailing only Colorado’s Cale Makar.
