TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported earlier this month that Team Canada had trimmed their list of players being considered to between 35 and 40.
The 33-year-old Wedgewood has an NHL-leading 13 wins this season along with a 2.09 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 17 games so far this season for the Avs.
He split last season between the Avalanche and the New Jersey Devils, arriving in Colorado in a trade last November.
The Brampton, Ont., native has also spent time with the Arizona Coyotes, Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators in addition to the Avs and Devils throughout his eight-year NHL career. He has a career 2.80 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in 171 regular season games.
Team Canada general manager Doug Armstrong must submit the 25-player roster on Dec. 31 and said in an interview on Nov. 10 that the list of potential players has been shortened to a number in the high 30s or low 40s.
The 2026 Olympic tournament begins on Feb. 11.
