The Vancouver Canucks are in desperate need of some of help up the middle, and the New York Rangers just placed Jusso Parssinen on waivers, it could be a underrated opportunity for the club.
“Although it’s encouraging he is skating, fans were quick to express their concern for Chytil. This is now his fifth concussion, it’s injury that keeps getting worse the more it happens, and the long term effects can be detrimental to Chytil’s quality of life after hockey. It’s not an easy conversation to have a but a necessary one for Chytil.”-Stinson
Adam Kierszenblat posted on X the announcement that Parssinen is being placed on waivers by the Rangers. The Rangers have had a miserable year this season, and as a result they are letting go of an underperforming young centerman, which could work in the Canucks favour.
6’3″, 207 lbs left shot center. Wonder if the #Canucks put in a claim.
Parssinen carries a big frame, and bigger guys tend to take a longer time adjusting to the pace of play of the NHL, he was drafted in the 7th round back in 2019, and he would receive much more opportunity in Vancouver than he does in New York. He was playing bottom six minutes with the Rangers but could have a shot at second line minutes with the Canucks.
And coming from playing his whole life in Europe, it takes time to adjust to the smaller rink and having less time to make decisions. It may just take a team with patience that allows him to make the next step in his development.
