The last time the Caps held a ceremony for Alexander Ovechkin they got clobbered by the Ottawa Senators 1-7. Tonight the Caps held a ceremony for Ovechkin again, this time for being the only player to hit 900 goals. This time they didn’t disappoint, scraping out a win for the good guys.
Plus: The Caps did allow three goals but they also only allowed 20 shots which is good stuff. More often than not they’d let in less than three goals.
Minus:Â At the end of the first period, the Caps gave up a last minute goal after a turnover by John Carlson. Last minute or first minute goals against are killers and momentum killers. Caps had all the momentum up 2-0 and they gave the Jets a goal late, which led to the Jets tying it up less than two minutes into the second period.
Caps Player of the Game: Let’s go with Ovechkin who scored a goal only Ovechkin could score on the night celebrating his 900 goal mark.
