For much of the NHL offseason, the Minnesota Wild were dealing with the ongoing contract situation involving young forward Marco Rossi. Rossi wanted a large contract from the Wild, and Minnesota held firm on a number that was comfortable to the organization.

This created all sorts of tension between the two sides and ultimately led to a lot of trade talk around Rossi. In the end, Rossi did agree to terms with the Wild on a new deal, but things still remain a little weird between the two parties.

After the deal was signed, there were rumors that Rossi could be flipped down the line. The deal was pretty much a placeholder so that the Wild didn’t have to deal with the situation this summer.

Minnesota was also dealing with the contract situation around star Kirill Kaprizov, so Rossi was complicating everything for them. The team was able to keep both in the mix, but it remains to be seen how this all plays out down the line.

Rossi has emerged as one of the more interesting young players across the league, and the Wild could likely get a strong return for him. In the event that the team were to put him on the trade block, there would be multiple teams interested in landing his services.

Last season with the Wild, Rossi put up 24 goals and had 36 assists over 82 games played in the regular season. Rossi gives the Wild a reliable asset at the center spot, but the front office also may want to move him for future assets.

This all remains to be seen, and is likely dependent on how the season goes for the Wild the rest of the way. But we can’t count out the team making some moves at the trade deadline next spring.

This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Marco Rossi Traded to Vancouver Cancucks

As the Wild move forward, the idea of them trading away Rossi has come about again. Due to the way that his new contract was structured, it essentially allows Minnesota to easily move him.

One team that could make sense for Rossi is the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver was linked to Rossi over the summer, and the two sides could look to spark up the trade talks again.

This Canucks team wants to add another center to the mix, and Rossi could be the way to go. Vancouver has been looking for different options to add to the roster, and this team wants to get back to the postseason.

Rossi could give this team a real spark, and he could be a big boost to the overall chances of the Canucks moving forward. With the asking price being so high, it could make things tough, but this could also be a worthwhile move for a team that wants to win a Staley Cup title soon.
