David Pastrnak is one of the league’s best finishers, but he’s gone quiet of late, failing to score in six consecutive games.

My Rangers vs. Bruins predictions see Pastrnak righting the ship Friday afternoon, perhaps exploiting a mouthwatering power play matchup in doing so.

Let’s take a closer look at my November 28 NHL picks.

Rangers vs Bruins prediction

Rangers vs Bruins Best bet: David Pastrnak Over 0.5 goals (+110)

The New York Rangers have largely defended well at 5-on-5 but David Pastrnak is always dangerous, especially on home soil when the Boston Bruins control the matchups.

Where Pastrnak could really cause problems is on the power play. The Rangers rank 29th in shot suppression and 30th in expected goals when undermanned this season.

Things have actually gotten even worse of late. New York sits 26th in goals, 32nd in shots, and 32nd in expected goals over the last 10 games. They are bleeding quality chances and the goals are starting to flow as a result.

Nobody should benefit from this fantastic power play matchup more than Pastrnak. He is one of the league’s most prolific players on the man advantage and everything flows through him.

Pastrnak has generated 60 shot attempts on the power play, which is just shy of double the closest teammate to him.

That’s nothing new as getting him the puck in shooting position is by far Boston’s biggest priority. Dating back to last year, nobody in the NHL has more power play shots on target than Pastrnak.

He hasn’t scored in six straight games, which is very abnormal. Given the mouthwatering power play matchup, this seems like a good spot to get back on track.

Pavel Zacha has eight assists through 12 home games and correlates heavily with Pastrnak, often sharing the ice at even-strength as well as on the top power play unit.

The Bruins have allowed the 6th most shots to defensemen over the past 10 games. That should be music to the ears of Adam Fox, who has averaged 5.6 attempts per game and recorded multiple shots on target in 12 of 15 road dates.
