Travis Mitchell took part in a rookie tradition ahead of his first NHL game on Friday, taking a solo lap before the New York Islanders took on the Philadelphia Flyers at UBS Arena.
The 26-year-old defenseman skated on a pair with Scott Mayfield during warmups. Mitchell has played parts of four seasons with the Bridgeport Islanders, and has four assists in 14 games this season.
