The San Jose Sharks are back at it today, hopefully not too full on turkey, turducken and whatever else Ryan Reaves carved up, the Toffoli family served up and the rest of the players cooked up. With an afternoon start, it’s a quick turnaround for the Sharks.

Meantime, the Vancouver Canucks enjoyed American Thanksgiving on the road after beating the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 in regulation on Wednesday night despite being outshot 41-28. Vancouver is having a tough go of it this season with a 10-12-2 record and a .458 points percentage. Things got even tougher last week when starting netminder Thatcher Demko was placed on injured reserve knocking him out of the line up for several weeks. On top of that, goaltender Kevin Lankinen is also out for personal reasons, leaving Vancouver with Jiri Patera and Nikita Tolopilo in the net. The pair have 12 NHL games played between them.

Tolopilo won against Anaheim on Wednesday night, so we’ll see if Head Coach Adam Foote goes back to the hot hand today.

Quinn Hughes is the team’s top scorer with 22 points in 19 games. Elias Pettersson (the forward? the elder?) has 21 points in 24 games but the team’s top goal scorer is Kiefer Sherwood, who has 12 goals this season on pace for 41 for the season. His career high in goals is 19, which he scored in 78 games last season.

This is the first of four meetings between the Canucks and Sharks this season. The two teams will meet again on Dec. 27 and Jan. 27, 2026 in Vancouver and April 11, 2026 in San Jose.

San Jose Sharks lines today

Macklin Celebrini missed the Thanksgiving Day skate but there’s no need to panic Sharks fans, it was simply to manage his workload. The Sharks gave him a maintenance day because it’s been a tough schedule so far and he’s been on the ice a lot for the team. Celebrini is expected to play for the Sharks today against his hometown team, the Canucks.

Maintenance day for Celebrini, he’s playing tomorrow

As for who is in the net, not sure who Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky will go with considering Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic both played on Wednesday. We’re guessing he sticks with the original plan of Nedeljkovic today, Asky on Saturday against the Golden Knights.
