The Sens have the luxury of facing the Dallas Stars twice in November. Last game? It was chippy overtime loss, with the Stars scoring three straight goals to down the Sens, who hung in with the first two goals and a strong Linus Ullmark performance.

Mikko Rantanen, who has a league-leading 57 PIMs this season, will have to faceoff against Brady Tkachuk tonight. Will he help Ottawa keep a better pulse of the emotional energy of the game?

We know that Linus Ullmark will start, and there’s a chance Ridly Greig might return to the lineup – likely for Hayden Hodgson.

Injuries: Thomas Chabot, who was played on the IR retroactive to last Saturday.

Game NotesThe Eastern Conference continues to be a tightrope. With Friday’s loss to St. Louis, and the results of games on Friday and Saturday, the Sens moved from a playoff spot to 10th in the conference – one point out of a wild card spot and third in the Atlantic. Meanwhile, the 16-5-4 Dallas Stars will likely be placed second in the Central Division for the entire season, following the league-leading Avalanche at the top of the Western Conference. The Robertson, Rantanen, Heiskanen trio continue to lead the way in all meaningful categories for the Stars. Last time Ottawa played Dallas on November 11th, Jason Robertson only had 3 goals on the season. He now has… 15. Dallas features the league’s top-ranked powerplay – a big test for a Sens PK that just made it out of the league’s basement. The Seattle Kraken sit at the bottom of the PK standings with a <70% PK unit. Dallas has a giant gap between their shot and chance metrics. Their top players generally play even in the shot department, but out-chance their opponents ~55% of the time. Where might the Sens be able to take advantage? When the Bichsel – Petrovic pairing is on the ice. The 21-year-old Swiss defender is a bigger Tyler Kleven – 6-foot-7 with limited puck skills, but decent skating ability. He’s struggled to move the puck under pressure, and is playing up in the lineup with Harley injured, just like Kleven is with Chabot out. Tonight could be a battle of mistakes.

It’s a 6:00pm ET start on TSN5 and TVA Sports in Canada.
