Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been sensational this season, although an injury has threatened his status this week.

If you have been paying attention this season, you would know that Oliver Ekman-Larsson has arguably been the best defenseman on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He has 20 points in 25 games, and he is on a nine-game point streak. He’s been sensational and has proven to be one of the team’s best 2024 acquisitions.

Unfortunately, he suffered an injury last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he was forced to leave the game early.

The Leafs have dealt with a ton of injuries, specifically to their blue line, and there were some fears about what an Ekman-Larsson injury could mean for this team going forward.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson reveals his status to William Nylander

After the game, the media spoke to head coach Craig Berube and forward William Nylander about the injury. Thankfully, both made some positive comments.

While Berube did not know the full nature of the injury, he acknowledged that he is hopeful that things are going to be okay.

As for Nylander, he claims he had a conversation with Ekman-Larsson, who reassured him that he is going to be just fine. This connotes that he will be good for the next game.

From there, the Leafs will play the Carolina Hurricanes. The schedule is getting tougher, and the team needs all the help it can get.

We wish Ekman-Larsson well over the next few days. We’re sure he will be taking full advantage of the two days of rest.
