Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander and head coach Craig Berube haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, and that is becoming more pronounced.

William Nylander has been the best player on the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, and it hasn’t been particularly close in terms of production.

When it comes to defensive effort, there is a case to be made that Nylander has suffered, which is not uncommon given his past results and behaviors.

Having said that, it appears as though his effort is starting to take its toll on people like head coach Craig Berube, who has to deal with the poor results.

Craig Berube and William Nylander get into it

In fact, an altercation from a few nights ago between Nylander and Berube is starting to go viral on social media, with former Sportsnet commentator Sid Seixeiro stirring the pot.

Following this altercation, Nylander “called in sick” just a couple of nights later, which in Seixeiro’s mind, is very suspicious.

Nylander was back in the lineup on Saturday, and he got a huge assist on a goal from rookie Easton Cowan, so things can’t be so bad.

William Nylander has been dominant

In 21 games this season, William Nylander has 11 goals, 21 assists, and 32 points, which makes him one of the best players in the NHL.

He is someone that the Toronto Maple Leafs need in their lineup to be successful, and last night was the perfect example of that.

Whether or not Nylander and Berube can get back on the same page remains to be seen. Although if one thing is for certain, the team’s success hinges on everyone seeing eye-to-eye.
