The ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks is embracing the mood of the moment.

It was Wicked Night in Kalamazoo.

To celebrate the release of the second half movie of the popular musical, the Wings painted the ice green and pink, the two theme colors of the movie.

This is the kind of thing that can only happen in minor league sports.

The top leagues have had various views of their minor league affiliates through the years. In baseball in particular, there has been a lot of downsizing.

But these minor league teams are special for their communities, and they can put on cool shows like this.

Young fans won’t soon forget the time they went to a hockey game where the ice was pink and green. That’s pretty darn cool.
