The Montreal Canadiens resumed practice today at the Brossard complex, and the team received some bad news.

With the team’s injuries, Martin St-Louis has to use several different pieces. However, the Canadiens received bad news regarding Jayden Struble.

Bad news has come in regarding Jayden Struble.

“Defenseman Jayden Struble (upper body, day-to-day) will not participate in today’s practice.”

We hope he returns quickly so he can help the team this week. According to Renaud Lavoie, Struble should be back in action this week.

“Jayden Struble won’t practice today. He’s day to day. The good news is he shouldn’t be out for longs”

– Renaud Lavoie

At 24 years old, Jayden Struble has already played 19 games this season, recording 4 assists, 32 penalty minutes, and a minus-3 rating while averaging just over 15 minutes per game. In total, he now has 129 NHL games under his belt, with 5 goals, 22 assists, and 27 points since joining the Montreal Canadiens.

It should also be noted that the left-shot defenseman agreed last summer to a two-year contract worth a total of $2.83M, or just under $1.42 million per year.

For a defenseman who has earned his spot in the lineup over the past two seasons, it’s an interesting bet for the club.

With a busy schedule and a tight race in the Atlantic Division, the Canadiens cannot afford to pile up injuries. Losing Struble, even for a few days, forces adjustments.
