Three Red Wings Prospects Could Make Their NHL Debuts This Season
Buium was placed on the injured non-roster list early in October after a preseason injury forced him to remain sidelined for the first months of the regular season.
The Wings’ second-round pick in 2021 scored 25 points in 67 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins last season.
The 22-year-old defenseman could bring a lot of depth to the blue line if he were to return to full health and gain momentum in the AHL.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Lombardi was limited to 44 games last season due to an injury but still managed to score 40 points, including 19 goals. This season, in 13 games, the center tallied 14 points, including three goals.
He could be an interesting option for a call-up if injuries strike the Wings’ lineup.
Wallinder, 23, scored five points in 18 games so far this season, all assists. The defenseman was drafted 32nd overall in 2020 by the Wings. The six-foot-four defenseman could bring physicality and size to the blue line in Detroit and would be a great upgrade from Travis Hamonic or Jacob Bernard-Docker.
