David Pastrnak won’t take the ice when the Boston Bruins face the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. Or Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues. Or even Saturday night against the New Jersey Devils.

“We can’t flip it on with him, we gotta be careful with him,” Bruins head coach Marco Sturm told reporters in Detroit ahead of Tuesday night’s game, per the team.

It was known Pastrnak missed Monday’s practice and did not travel with the team to Detroit. Sturm, though, shared Pastrnak did not skate at Warrior Ice Arena on Tuesday, either.

His return will come “hopefully soon,” Sturm said.

“He’s not skating this week, so I don’t expect him to play this week,” Sturm said. “He definitely needs a few practices out of it, or a few skates, I would say.”

Pastrnak is sidelined with an undisclosed injury and has not played since Nov. 26. Tuesday’s contest will be the third straight game he missed.

The veteran winger has 29 points on 11 goals and 18 assists in first 25 games this season.
