A scene is circulating widely on the web and it’s drawing strong reactions from Montreal Canadiens fans.
It shows four Canadiens players in a Montreal bar, at night, clearly out enjoying themselves with teammates and their partners.
A fan approaches, phone in hand, and starts filming the players from extremely close up, without hesitation. Very quickly, you can sense the players’ patience fading and the discomfort setting in. The phone is practically in their faces, the questions keep repeating, and the exchange shifts into angry looks and short, blunt responses.
We’re not talking about a simple little selfie from a distance here, but a private moment turned into a show for social media. Honestly, it’s hard not to understand why the players are checking out of the situation.

When these guys manage to get a few hours off, it’s normal that they just want to chat quietly with their loved ones without a phone following them every second.
Under the video, several comments summarize basic common sense: don’t put your phone right in the players’ faces, excuse yourself and ask if you’re bothering them, and ask for an autograph or a photo politely.
In other words, be respectful. That’s exactly where the line was crossed in this sequence.

We all know that stories about Canadiens players in Montreal bars always get people talking, especially when they surface on social media. Here, all we’re seeing is a lack of judgment that lands on the shoulders of players who weren’t asking for anything.
Canadiens players give us a show 82 nights a season, plus the playoffs when things go well. The rest of the time, they’re entitled to a normal life off the ice.
The next time you cross paths with Cole Caufield or Juraj Slafkovsky in a bar, the best sign of appreciation might actually be giving them a bit of space.
