The San Jose Sharks have sent injured prospect Michael Misa down to the American Hockey League on a conditioning loan.

Officially, the Sharks placed Misa on LTIR before sending him down to the San Jose Barracuda. The forward has been out since Nov. 5 with an injury that occurred in the morning skate before facing the Seattle Kraken.

Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky revealed before Wednesday’s game that Misa, the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, is getting closer to returning. The goal for the conditioning loan is to get the 18-year-old back into game action.

“He’s excited. We talked to him. It will be good for him to go down there and play. He’s been out for a bit,” Warsofsky said about Misa. “It’s a challenging league, it’s a tough league. Respect it and get to his game.”

Misa would not usually be available to be sent down to the AHL due to his age. While being injured is not normally good, getting game action at any professional level could be beneficial for his development.

The timing of Misa’s return to game action with the Barracuda could not be coming at a better time. The ‘Cuda had a red-hot November, finishing with a record of 10-1-1-1.

He will also join forces with former Juniors teammate Igor Chernyshov, who was just named the AHL’s rookie of the month for November. In 13 games, Chernyshov had ten goals and six assists.

“That’s a good group,” Warsofsky said of the ‘Cuda. “It is a good mix down there. “He obviously knows some of the players as well. So I’ll let JMac and his staff put the lines together.”

Misa could play his first game at Tech CU Arena on Friday against the Tucson Roadrunners.
