There have been some rumours going around that the Oilers have expressed interest in acquiring Tristan Jarry. While he has shown flashes of being a good goaltender. much like Skinner, he is highly inconsistent and does have an injury history. I feel like this would not solve the goaltending issue the Oilers are currently in. If I were Edmonton, I would stay away.

The goalie market is thin and I can’t see a goalie available who will push the needle forward for the team. Like I said previously, I would take a chance on Cam Talbot if he’s available. Low risk and it would not cost the Oilers much to acquire him.

Also, like I said previously, Juuse Saros would be the best option as Nashville is struggling and may be looking to start a rebuild. However he has a no movement clause and just signed an 8 year deal with the Preds so I doubt he wants to leave. Furthermore, I don’t think Edmonton has the assets to make that deal with their draft and prospect coffers fairly dry.

Devon Levi has been mentioned in the past, and while his AHL numbers are good, he’s struggled in the NHL, albeit on a terrible Sabres Team. Also he is on the smallish side at 6.00 and with the Oilers leaking high quality chances left, right and center, I’m not sure this will be good for a goalie starting his NHL career. He would be good to have in the system to develop however, and who knows, it might work out, but it’s not a solution for today. It would be a good move to add high quality depth.

Maybe they can convince Carey Price to come out of retirement?Â
