Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote gave an update on forward Evander Kane following a scary incident during Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche.
Vancouver got on the board early on in the first period with Linus Karlsson’s fifth of the season giving the Canucks a 1-0 lead, which they would hold for the majority of the opening frame before Nathan MacKinnon tied things up with under a minute to play, with the game knotted at 1-1 after 20 minutes.
Colorado went on to add two more goals in the second period, courtesy of Brock Nelson and Nathan MacKinnon, the latter of whom now has 22 on the season, and the Avalanche extended their point streak to 17 games thanks to a 3-1 victory over Vancouver.
Vancouver Canucks’ Adam Foote gives update on Evander Kane after scary incident
While the Canucks certainly held their own against the league’s best team, there was a scary moment for Adam Foote’s group late in the third period involving forward Evander Kane.
The Vancouver native was tangled up with Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog in front of Colorado’s bench as the two were battling for the puck, which forced the linesman to jump up onto the edge of the boards.
As Kane skated by, he collided with the linesman’s skate, which appeared to make contact with the Canucks forward’s arm, causing him to fall to the ice clutching his left forearm before leaving the game.
“Scary situation as #Canucks F Evander Kane gets injured in Colorado”
After the game, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote met with reporters and gave an update on Evander Kane’s status, saying that his skin was lacerated by the official’s skate, but thankfully he’s okay and avoided a serious injury.
“Adam Foote said Evander Kane got a scare late in game with skate to his forearm. Said the skin was lacerated, but Foote thinks Kane will be OK. Avoided serious injury.” Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre said on X.
Kane’s status for Friday night’s game is up in the air at the moment as the Canucks return home to Vancouver to start a four-game homestand against a familiar face – Ian Cole and the Utah Mammoth.
