It’s a chance for the Blue Jackets (12-9-5) to make amends for coughing up a two-goal lead against the Red Wings in a 4-3 overtime loss Nov. 22 at Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit, which continued a season-long struggle protecting late leads. Kirill Marchenko will return to the Jackets’ lineup after missing four games with a lower-body injury, while captain Boone Jenner (upper body) will miss his 11th straight game.

Elvis Merzlikins will start in net for Columbus, getting a consecutive start for the first time this season, and rookie Luca Del Bel Belluz will draw back into the Blue Jackets’ lineup after being recalled Dec. 2 from AHL Cleveland. The Blue Jackets are last with 29 points in the tightly-packed Metropolitan Division standings, needing to climb by stringing wins together. Detroit (30 points) is fourth in the Atlantic Division.
