Reports indicate that the Vancouver Canucks has been very interested in a former top-10 pick & three-time 20+ goal scorer in trade talks with the Philadelphia Flyers.

“Vancouver has players that Rick Tocchet likes. I don’t know if it’s [Kiefer] Sherwood; it would fit. But, nobody knows the Vancouver players better than Tocchet does, right? A couple people have said to me, ‘You better keep an eye on Philly when it comes to Vancouver’s players.’ And we’re not even talking about [Quinn] Hughes – everyone likes Hughes, and I don’t think anything’s going on there right now. But as the Canucks talk about some of their veterans, the questions you should be asking is: what veterans there, does Tocchet like?” Friedman said.

The Flyers, like many teams in the Eastern Conference this season, are trying to add to their group and there are several names on Vancouver’s roster that could be of interest to General Manager Danny Briere including Kiefer Sherwood, Conor Garland and possibly even Evander Kane.

Vancouver Canucks reportedly very interested in former top-ten pick in talks with Philadelphia Flyers

As for who the Vancouver Canucks could potentially target in talks with the Philadelphia Flyers are Bobby Brink, Emile Andrae, among others, but it appears that Patrik Allvin might have his sights set on a more established NHLer than those two.

“You know how Canucks and Philadelphia are talking trade? Someone told me that the Canucks really like Owen Tippett in Philly. But, that would be a hard get,» Dhaliwal said.

Tippett, a native of Peterborough, Ontario, was selected tenth overall by the Florida Panthers back in 2017 and has appeared in 373 career games with them and the Philadelphia Flyers, who acquired him in a trade in March of 2022.

With three consecutive 20+ goal seasons under his belt and well on his way to a fourth, Owen Tippett would be a really nice addition to the Vancouver Canucks roster, but it’s very unlikely that the Philadelphia Flyers would want to part with him after committing nearly $50 million USD on an eight-year deal back in January 2024.

It would have to be a very unique situation for the Philadelphia Flyers to give up Owen Tippett, but it’s unclear if that could potentially be done through a Kiefer Sherwood or Conor Garland trade, or if it’ll have to be as part of a bigger package for Quinn Hughes.
