Rasmus Dahlin brutally boarded Trevor Zegras on Wednesday night, and it may end up with the Buffalo Sabres captain being suspended.

The Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers met in a very intriguing contest on Wednesday night, with the Flyers coming away winners 5-2 in a matchup of two young teams.

Early in the season, both of these teams have flashed potential, but behind two point nights from five different players, the Flyers have stretched their solid start this season to a record of 15-8-3.

Buffalo Sabres captain may face suspension

However, the Flyers are now sweating on the availability of young star Trevor Zegras, who was hit from behind by Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin in this one, with the defenseman assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

Thankfully for the Flyers, Zegras finished out the game with a goal and helped steer them to a victory, meaning that he’s not going to miss time, which is a major sigh of relief for the team after he’s started the season with 10 goals and 26 points through 26 games played.

As for Dahlin, he’s been very inconsistent in his play this year, and while he’s still proving his offensive talent in every game, this type of dirty play just isn’t his style, and after this play that clearly disregarded the safety of Zegras, it’s safe to say that a suspension could be on the way.

Ultimately though, we’ve not seen too many suspensions handed down by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety this season, but given how unsafe and reckless this play was by Dahlin, there’s a chance that this happens here.
