With trade rumors surrounding defenseman Quinn Hughes increasing day by day, NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman let us in on a bit of inside knowledge.
According to the NHL Insider, the Vancouver Canucks have coveted Detroit Red Wings’ 9th overall pick in 2023, center Nate Danielson.
He has played a total of 12 games this season and scored 4 points (1-3) in the NHL. If a trade were to occur between the Canucks and Red Wings, there’s been speculation that Nate Danielson could be a part of the package traded to Vancouver.
This could be a coup for the Red Wings if they’re to find the perfect package that sends a prospect like Nate Danielson, who might be close to NHL-ready, to Vancouver for a Norris Trophy defenseman like Quinn Hughes.
Will the Detroit Red Wings trade center Nate Danielson for defenseman Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks?
Nate Danielson would have to be one part of a package that could include a draft pick and Quinn Hughes.
The former WHL forward, who played both for the Portland Winterhawks and Brandon Wheat Kings, has found his spot in the Red Wings lineup on the team’s third line and has played an average time on ice of 10:92 in his last ten games, according to DailyFaceOff.
The Red Wings recalled the forward from the Grand Rapids Griffins on November 9th, and he’s been in the lineup since, showing top-line potential.
Quinn Hughes could be a huge factor pushing the team deeper into the playoffs, and he has ties to Michigan as a former Wolverine and with his family living here.
