The Avs added an extra forward from the AHL on Friday. What does this mean for the 12 forwards they used on Thursday? Also, the Dallas Stars are hot on their tails, and the New Jersey Devils are suddenly bad on home ice.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — December 6.

Colorado Hockey Now

The Avs called up Tristen Nielsen on Friday, which is somewhat intriguing given that they had 12 healthy forwards on Long Island. Could someone be hurt or sick and unable to go?

Either way, we’ll find out later this morning when they drop the puck at Madison Square Garden just after 10:30 am MT.

As for the absences we know of, here’s the latest on Colorado’s three injuries. Scott Wedgewood, Gavin Brindley, and Logan O’Connor.

Around The NHL

San Jose Hockey Now: The Dallas Stars are 8-0-1 in their last nine games and keep climbing up the ranks after another victory against San Jose. Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston, and Mikko Rantanen are all on fire, too. Dallas is just one point back of the Avs, although Colorado has two games in hand.

New Jersey Hockey Now: This is quite the fascinating turn of events. At this time last week, the Devils were 9-0-1 on home ice. But in the last seven days, they lost four times, all in regulation, during a four-game homestand. In the last two games, they failed to even score a goal.

Florida Hockey Now: Matthew Tkachuk isn’t back yet, but the Panthers cold get another key forward back in the lineup later tonight.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The wins aren’t coming as easily as they were in October, but you can’t deny the Pens are having fun.

Detroit Hockey Now: Three things the Red Wings need to clean up to make the postseason.
