Well, that got out of hand in a hurry. After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Los Angeles Kings potted six unanswered goals in the final two periods to steamroll the Chicago Blackhawks 6-0 on Saturday night. It was only the third time the Blackhawks have been defeated by more than two goals this season.

More in the links for the highlights and a recap of a forgettable performance out in Los Angeles.

Also in Blackhawks news, Anton Frondell was responsible for one of Djurgarden’s two tallies in regulation on Saturday, and Samuel Savoie got the Rockford crowd roudy on Teddy Bear Toss night.

Around the league, the New Jersey Devils are reportedly going big-game hunting in the trade market, Nathan MacKinnon added two more goals in Colorado’s win, and an update on next year’s Heritage Classic.

All that & more in the Daily!

Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Tidbits

Chicago Hockey Now: If you watched the Blackhawks until the final horn sounded on Saturday, you’re a trooper. If you missed the game, you made a smart decision spending your night elsewhere. Chicago was lousy over the final 40 minutes in a lopsided 6-0 loss to the Kings.

More CHN: Two months have now come and gone in the 2025-26 men’s college hockey season. Here’s an update on the five Blackhawks prospects playing in the NCAA, with four currently playing for top-20 programs.

Keeping up the prospect talk, 2025 third overall pick Anton Frondell scored his tenth goal of the season in Djurgarden’s 3-2 shootout win on Saturday. Frondell now has 10 goals and 15 points through 25 games in Sweden’s top professional league as an 18-year-old.

Out in Rockford, the IceHogs fell 2-1 to the Colorado Eagles for their second loss in as many days. Samuel Savoie provided the lone goal for the IceHogs, which sent stuffed animals flying onto the ice on Teddy Bear Toss Night. Nick Lardis also picked up an assist on the goal, extending his point streak to four games. Savoie scored three goals this weekend after being promoted to the top line.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic: Olympic coaches and front office members must stop looking for 200-foot hockey players. Instead, they need to search for which players perform the best at 196.85 feet (jokes). Sportsnet: The Edmonton Oilers need help in between the pipes, and they might be looking at a Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender. Edmonton is believed to have an interest in Tristan Jarry, but it’s complicated.

NHL.com: The NHL is bringing back the Heritage Classic next season. The Winnipeg Jets will host the Montreal Canadiens at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg next October. Princess Auto Stadium is the home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

New Jersey Hockey Now: While there isn’t anything imminent, the New Jersey Devils have had at least one conversation with the Vancouver Canucks regarding the future of defenseman Quinn Hughes. Do the Devils have a legitimate shot to add the third Hughes brother?

Colorado Hockey Now: Another big game from superstar Nathan MacKinnon helped the Colorado Avalanche win 3-2 at Madison Square Garden. MacKinnon added to his league lead in goals and points with a two-goal day in a win over the New York Rangers.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Speaking of Pittsburgh Penguins netminders, the team must eventually make room for Sergei Murashov, so what does that mean for Arturs Silovs?
