The Avalanche are reportedly looking to wear their Quebec Nordiques jerseys for one more game than initially planned.

According to RDS’ Renaud Lavoie, the Avs are seeking league permission to wear the vintage sweaters in Montreal when they visit the Canadiens on Jan. 29. Colorado wore them against Montreal at Ball Arena in November.

The NHL could give permission to the @Avalanche to wear the Nordiques jersey against the @CanadiensMTL on January 29 in MTL. Waiting on a final decision.

The Habs and Nordiques were among the NHL’s fiercest rivalries in the 1980s and 90s. Quebec  relocated to Denver in 1995, effectively ending years of heated games between the cross-province rivals.

Colorado won 7-2 at Ball Arena on Nov. 29 in the first meeting between the two clubs.

The Avs are also scheduled to wear Nordiques colors five more times, which includes a road game in Carolina against the Hurricanes, who will wear vintage Hartford Whalers jerseys. That was initially the only road game on the calendar with the Nordiques jerseys.

If the game in Montreal gets approved, it’ll be one of eight games in those colors, of which two have already passed.
