After being shut out by Washington Capitals goalie Logan Thompson on Dec. 7 at Capital One Arena, the Blue Jackets conclude a difficult three-game road trip by playing for the third time in four days Dec. 9 in Raleigh, North Carolina against the Carolina Hurricanes.
It’s a chance for the Blue Jackets (12-10-6) to make amends for blowing three leads, including cushions of two and three goals, in a 7-6 overtime loss to start the trip Dec. 6 against the Florida Panthers.
That game continued a season-long struggle protecting leads, especially late in games. They’ve blown 10 third period leads in 28 games and could be much closer to the top of the Metropolitan Division, like the Hurricanes, rather than last place among eight teams.
The Blue Jackets won’t make any lineup changes from how they looked in Washington, including goalie Jet Greaves getting another start after a fantastic 36-save outing in the Jackets’ 2-0 loss to the Capitals.
