The Montreal Canadiens were blown away on Tuesday night by the Tampa Bay Lightning, and now, they’ve made several corresponding roster moves as they look to turn around recent momentum.
This season has been one of ups-and-downs for the Montreal Canadiens, and while the team have a solid overall record of 15-11-3, it’s safe to say that they’ve taken a step back after their red-hot start to the year, one that had many praising them as a genuine Stanley Cup threat in the Eastern Conference.
On Tuesday night, things got even worse as they battled a division foe in the Tampa Bay Lightning, with Jakub Dobes and Samuel Montembeault both giving up three goals in the dreadful 6-1 defeat.
Canadiens make three roster moves after massive defeat
Following that matchup, the team were quick to announce some roster changes on social media, as they have recalled the trio of Owen Beck, Adam Engstrom and Jacob Fowler from the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.
It’s unclear if any of the three are going to get significant playing time moving forward, but given that they’ve won just nine of their past 13 games, it’s safe to say that they’ve been struggling significantly as of late, and a change may be what’s necessary to spark their momentum once again.
Ultimately, this is a very young team, and in a long 82-game season, there’s bound to be plenty of inconsistency, but with this infusion of young talent to an already young, energetic squad, there’s plenty of potential still for a team that’s been building an incredible young core for years now.
