A trade proposal has emerged recently that would send Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes to the Detroit Red Wings, with Patrik Allvin receiving a haul in return.

The one thing that Detroit has that Philly doesn’t is – they have a center. I do think when I rank the teams, and I say who can do this and where would Hughes want to go, I would say Detroit’s very high on my list.” Friedman said.

He added, “Can you see [Red Wings exec Steve Yzerman] not being interested in Quinn Hughes? Can you see Quinn Hughes not being interested in Detroit when the time comes? I think they’re very legit, and Detroit has centers, and centers that have been playing in the NHL I think Detroit is a team to watch.”

Elliotte Friedman doubled down on his report of the Detroit Red Wings being a team to watch during Monday’s edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, saying that the two teams have talked about Quinn Hughes and there is a deal to be made there if they both wanted to.

Trade proposal emerges sending Vancouver Canucks’ Quinn Hughes to Detroit Red Wings

Detroit has exactly what the Vancouver Canucks want and need – young centermen, with Marco Kasper and Nate Danielson being two pieces that Patrik Allvin would love to get his hands on.

If the two teams came together to complete a deal, there would certainly be other pieces coming back to Vancouver too and recently, a fan on social media shared their trade proposal involving Quinn Hughes, the Canucks and Red Wings.

Detroit would land Quinn Hughes while Vancouver would receive Swedish defenseman Simon Edvinsson, one of Marco Kasper or Nate Danielson, Emmitt Finnie, a 2026 first round pick and a 2027 first round pick.

“Elliotte reported the Quinn Hughes deal will be massive, and Detroit is one of the only teams willing/capable of doing it. Potential trade:

To #LGRW:
Quinn Hughes

To #Canucks
Simon Edvinsson
Nate Danielson/Marco Kasper
Emmett Finnie
2026 1st
2027 1st” @nucks0 said on X.

While it’s still too early to say when a Quinn Hughes trade will occur, if one does at all, that proposed return is a lot and as much as the Vancouver Canucks would be thrilled getting all that back for their captain, it’s unlikely that Steve Yzerman would give up that much without a guarantee that the 26-year-old blueliner will sign an extension with the club when eligible on July 1st.
