Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matias Maccelli has been unable to crack the lineup in over a week, and it looks like this is starting to wear on him.
If you have been paying attention to the Toronto Maple Leafs as of late, you have probably noticed that the team has been keeping Matias Maccelli in the press box.
When Maccelli was traded to the Leafs, the expectation was that he would be able to improve upon his 2024-25 campaign, in which he had just 18 points.
For the last four or five games now, the forward has remained in the dog house, and with the Leafs winning games, it feels like he will remain on the sidelines.
Matias Maccelli does not look pleased with the Maple Leafs
Last night, with the Leafs playing the Tampa Bay Lightning at home, Maccelli was spotted in the press box, and he did not look very pleased.
The look on the player’s face was despondent, even with the team playing a good game. Clearly, he wants to be back in the lineup.
It’s pretty wild to see Maccelli get this kind of treatment, especially when you consider how he has been a team player for much of the season.
He has played on practically every single line, and hasn’t said anything to the media to suggest that he is unhappy with the way things have gone.
Thursday against the San Jose Sharks will be interesting. Whether or not Maccelli draws back in is something that still remains to be seen.
If one thing is for certain, it is that he is going to be hungry when he finally gets back onto the ice for the Leafs.
