The Carolina Hurricanes (18-9-2) take on the Washington Capitals (18-9-3) tonight in a battle for first place in the Metro and the East. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 P.M. and the game will be televised by the FanDuel Sports Network.

While the Canes are coming off a mediocre seven game home stand, (4-3-0), the Caps are red hot and have earned points in 11 of their last 12 games, (10-1-1).

Washington goalie, Logan Thompson, has a 5-0-1 record in his last six games and has a .955 save percentage over that span.

Tom Wilson leads the team in scoring with 17 goals and 32 points in 30 games. Alex Ovechkin is next with 14 goals and 29 points.

Defenseman Jakob Chychrun is having a great year and is right up there with 25 points.

Walt Ruff is reporting from Washington that Brandon Bussi is in the starter’s crease at the morning skate. Bussi is 9-1-0 in his 10 career NHL games. It seems that Brind’Amour is starting to put more trust in the waiver wire pickup.

Ruff is also reporting that Carrier is not on the ice this morning but Kotkaniemi is.
