San Jose Sharks News & Notes:
The San Jose Sharks travel to Toronto in a different spot than last season. The Sharks, while not in a playoff spot currently, are having much more success this season, with a positive point percentage. The Sharks’ youth are excelling, and the team is showing a lot of promise as the core continues to develop. The Sharks seem to always show up against Toronto, and will work hard to find two points against the Leafs tonight.
Toronto Maple Leafs News & Notes:
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been on a tear as of late, with a 4-0-1 record in their last five games. The Leafs have been battling through adversity, and with their two main goaltenders out, Hildeby has been given a chance and looked composed and skilled in his time in net. The Leafs are looking to push their way up the Atlantic standings back into a playoff spot, so a win tonight against the Sharks would help, but the team will need a full 60-minute effort.

Players To Watch:
San Jose Sharks
Macklin Celebrini has been nothing short of spectacular since joining the Sharks in the NHL. He’s continued building off his rookie campaign, with 43 points in just 31 games. For a second-year NHLer, those are elite numbers. Celebrini has been pushing his way towards a spot on the Canadian Olympic roster, and at this point, he’s had so much success that he will either be named to the team, or if Team Canada doesn’t bring back gold without him on the roster, people will wonder what difference he would have made. Celebrini is focused on the moment, though, and will look to build on his strong season tonight.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Henry Thrun is poised to make his Toronto Maple Leafs debut tonight, and what better way than against his former team, the Sharks, who traded him this past summer. Thrun has looked solid and moved the puck well thus far with the Marlies in the AHL, and with Dakota Mermis sidelined after a knee-on-knee, Thrun is now being given an opportunity with the Leafs. Stecher, as a puck-moving defender, has done wonders for this Leafs team and their breakout, and adding another puck-mover to the lineup should help Toronto to move the puck more effectively.
