As per the NHL, he was selected in the third round, 69th overall, by the Canadiens in the 2023 NHL entry draft. Before that, he played at Boston College, where he posted strong statistics and helped his team with solid goaltending. His early success in the AHL showed that he could eventually become an NHL-level goalie. Reports suggest that the 21-year-old top prospect goalie has a 10-5-0 record with a 2.09 GAA & .919SV%, with 3 shutouts.

Announcing about the same, NHL posted about the same on their Twitter/X account, “HERE WE GO..Jacob Fowler will officially make his first career start tonight in Pittsburgh!”Reports suggest that in 15 AHL games this season, Fowler has three shutouts, a 2.09 GAA, and a .919 SV%. The 21-year-old has a 10-5-0 record with the Laval Rocket this season, and he’s sporting the fourth-best save percentage (.919) of any American Hockey League goaltender to have appeared in at least 10 games.With this, Fowler will join a distinguished list of former Habs rookie goalies who made their debut against the Penguins. Among them are Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy, and Carey Price.Meanwhile, the Canadiens currently hold a record of 15 wins, 11 losses, and three overtime losses and are fighting to stay competitive in the Atlantic Division. With several important games coming up, the Canadiens are hopeful that Fowler’s addition will boost their chances and give their defense more confidence as they work to return to their winning form.However, certain analysts or of the opinion that Jacob Fowler’s inclusion in the Canadiens will bring no change.
