The Chicago Blackhawks are once again becoming a team to watch as the trade deadline approaches. ESPN insider Greg Wyshynski released his latest trade board, and three Blackhawks players, Jason Dickinson, Connor Murphy, and Laurent Brossoit, all made the list.

With Chicago still deep in its rebuild and carrying several veterans on expiring contracts, the possibility that it could become a seller is growing stronger. Each of the three players mentioned offers something different to potential contenders, making them logical names to monitor in the weeks ahead.

It is no surprise to see Jason Dickinson on the trade board. The 30-year-old center is a pending unrestricted free agent and fits the profile of the type of depth forward playoff teams chase every year. Teams looking to add size, reliability, and versatility in the bottom six often look at players like Dickinson.

So far this season, Dickinson has produced two goals and three assists for five points in 17 games. While his numbers may not jump off the page, his value goes far beyond scoring. He is a dependable penalty killer, a strong forechecker, and wins over 52 percent of his faceoffs. These are the kinds of traits coaches love during tight playoff games.

His ability to play a checking role also gives him appeal to contenders looking to strengthen their defensive game and improve faceoff efficiency down the middle. Because he is a pending free agent, acquiring teams would not need to commit long-term, making him even more attractive as a rental.

On defense, Connor Murphy is another name expected to draw interest. Like Dickinson, Murphy is also a pending UFA. He is precisely the type of defenseman teams often look for as the games get tougher late in the season: significant, physical, and a right-handed shot.

Right-shot defensemen with experience and shutdown ability are always in short supply. Murphy’s style of play makes him a fit on most playoff teams. His ability to defend the crease, block shots, and battle along the boards makes him a safe and predictable option for coaches.

If the Blackhawks decide to move Murphy, they would be dealing a valuable asset. His presence in the locker room and consistency on the ice have been essential for a young Chicago roster. Still, if the return is significant, the organization may decide it is the right time to move on.

Laurent Brossoit could be on the move as the goalie market takes shape

While Dickinson and Murphy are natural trade candidates given their roles and contract statuses, Laurent Brossoit has been expected to move for some time. Chicago has been working to find the 32-year-old goaltender a new home, and his appearance on Wyshynski’s trade board reflects that ongoing effort.

Brossoit is currently on a conditioning assignment with the Rockford IceHogs, where he is getting his first game action since the 2023-24 season. He has dealt with several injuries over the last year, but when healthy, he has proven to be a reliable NHL backup capable of handling extended stretches of play.

Several teams around the league could be in the market for a goaltender as the season progresses. Injuries, inconsistent play, or simply the desire for depth often drive goalie trades near the deadline. If Brossoit performs well during his conditioning stint, Chicago may finally find the right match.

The Blackhawks will continue to evaluate their roster as the season moves forward. If they fall further from the playoff picture, the likelihood increases that veterans like Dickinson, Murphy, and Brossoit will be traded for futures. For now, fans should keep an eye on how these names develop in the trade rumor mill.
